Part 24
I had the rare occasion to watch a northern water snake go through pregnancy. Ultimately, I saw it with its young snake. Unfortunately, I did not see the birth. I have chronicled the pregnancy in the pictures below. All pictures were taken at the same place.

The snake is coiled under some leaves for camouflage. If you look near the center of the picture, in the break of the leaf, you will see an orange eye watching me.

It had been nearly two weeks since I saw the snake, and then there it was again. But wait, there are two snakes!
Another miracle of life. The place where I took these pictures had dozens of frogs last year. This year, there are just a few. I wonder why!
These are only a few of the pictures that I took. I have many more in high-resolution. If anybody is interested, I will forward the pictures to you.
