Village Dam on Stony Brook

At the northern side of the pond is a small dam.  This allowed water from Stony Brook to be diverted through the factory to power some of the machinery.  I found the dam very interesting during the winter.  The picture below was taken on December 18, 2010.  It had not yet snowed, but it had been very cold.  The mist from the water surging over the dam created snow near the dam.

On January 29, 2011, there had been snow and cold.  Notice the snow bank at the bottom of the picture.

On February 19, 2011, some of the snow had melted.

The ducks did not mind the cold water just upstream from the dam.  The pond was completely frozen and covered by ice fishermen.

This is the falls on March 12, 2011

These are the falls on March 19, 2011.

The dam on January 7, 2012.  There was very little snow this year.
